KOM New Testament Dedication

Dr. Kenmogne and Mr. George Shultz presenting the New Testament to the Church
It is December 10th, 2005. The day dawned bright and clear. We arrived in the town of Fundong in midmorning as the bustle of market day began and hundreds of people began arriving and gathering for the dedication festivities of the Kom New Testament.

The beginning

The beginning of the event was indicated as choirs began approaching from each direction--left and right. Primarily, the music was vocal but every group had one or more drummers and some had various kinds of horns that they played.

Choirs

At first, the choirs were all singing at once (each with their own song) and they approached very slowly. However, as they gathered in front of the reviewing stand, they would each perform their own selection while the others waited

A mile stone for the Oku People!

The Oku team spent over a month in Yaoundé completing the typesetting of their New Testament. This is a joyful mile stone to years of hard work, challenges packed with a lot of prayers. We rejoice with the Oku team and the Oku community on complete translation and typesetting of their New Testament and looking forward to celebrating the Word with the community. We also look forward to the impact God's Word in the heart language of the Okus will have in the church and the community.
We praise the Lord for the hard work of the translation team, the Oku Inter Church Committee, OLAS, the Project Coordinator (Rev Ngum Peter) the typesetters (Georges Mbeck), OneBook, Infocus and all those who prayed and served this project in one way or the other. Completing this step is such a wonderful achievement. After several checks at the type setting center here in Cameroon, an electronic copy has been sent to Dallas for final verification prior to onward transmission to Korea for printing. This New Testament would be dedicated in late 2013.
