CITAF Meeting in Ouagadougou

Praise God for the trip Dr Michel Kenmogne made on August 1, 2010 to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Though with some difficulties, he was able to attend the meeting of the Council of Theological Institutions in Francophone Africa (CITAF) and reported on the first year of teaching the course on Bible Translation in Bible Schools.

Training for Bible Schools/Faculties

There is an upcoming seminar for theological educators in West Africa that will take place in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire from August 25 to 28, 2010. There will be training and review for theological educators on the Bible Translation Course that was introduced last year. Please pray for safe travels for participants and staff, for the logistics by Dr. Kenmogne and his team, and for the Lord’s enabling and stamina.

Business Men and Christian leaders' banquet

The Christian businessmen and leaders banquet is scheduled for August 28, 2010 at the SIL auditorium in Yaoundé. Prof. Beban Sammy Chumbow will be the keynote speaker for this banquet. Please pray for good preparation of this important event. Invitations are being distributed. Pray that many Christian businessmen and leaders will be free and attend this event that serves to boost other Church Relations strategies, and help us to have a group of advocates and supporters for the ministry of Bible translation and CABTAL. Pray for the keynote speaker and other people involved in organizing this event. Pray that God will minister to the Christian businessmen and leaders and that they will join us in reaching out to Cameroonians with the Word of God in their heart language.

Titus' Translation Workshop

Praise God for the translation Workshop on the book of Titus that took place from August 9 to 13 and that was led by Paul Kimbi. Praise God for the language groups - Aghem, Babanki, Bum, Mbembe, and Pinyin - who were able to translate that book and get it checked by a translation consultant. Pray that the translated Word would have a great impact in each of these communities where CABTAL is serving.

Another Budget process

The new fiscal year is coming up (starts October 1) and our accountant is not available. The Director of Administration and Finance, Mr. Bert Visser, and other people in that department are in charge of doing the accounts of CABTAL and to prepare for the next budget. Please pray for all those involved in the budget process. Pray that all those who have to prepare budgets will get them done as the admin team will begin discussing it very soon. They cannot do it accurately as they are waiting for project funding information from partner organizations. Pray for the people that are involved in making the project funding decisions as well, for God's wisdom and clear direction as to where to direct the funds that are available.

Bakossi New Testament

Please pray for the Bakossi team as they are completing the proofreading of the New Testament these days, preparing it for the typesetting that will start in early September. Dr Robert Hedinger and wife Ria, have traveled to Tombel to help in that process. Please pray for all those involved in this process to remain in good health, to be free of other issues that would hinder them from concentrating on their work and to be patient in doing their work carefully.

Typesetting Center

Pray for the typesetters Georges Patrice Mbeck and Zacharie Essama Messi as they are busy working on different projects: The Yamba New Testament, eight Old Testament Books in the Tharaka Language (Tanzania) and the Psalms in the Mambila language. They will soon receive other works such as the Bakossi and Gangam (from Togo) New Testaments.

Translation Degree Program

The new academic year will soon start at CBTS (Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary) for the students involved in the Translation Degree Program (TDP). This will be the last year for the first batch of students. Please pray that God will help them to complete well. Please pray also for Dr Joseph Mfonyam, who is overseeing the TDP at CBTS while George Shultz is on furlough. Pray for the students
as they make preparations to return for another school year. Pray especially that each one will have the funds needed.

Denya and Kenyang Newt Testaments' Dedication

Continue to pray for the planning of the Denya and Kenyang New Testament dedications scheduled for December 18 and 19. Pray for the organizing committees that have been set up for the two communities. Pray that God will help them to plan well. Pray that the churches in those areas will
be ready to receive the translated Scriptures.

Northern Part of Cameroon

The Northern part of Cameroon has been hit by an epidemic of cholera and the Tchouvok area is affected by this epidemic. Many families are reported to have cases of cholera in the area.
