Location
Moghamo is situated in Batibo Subdivision, North West Province. They are part of a large group called the Widekum. Moghamo is a nomenclature that translates to say “I say” in pidgin. It has a population of about 180,000 inhabitants.
Introduction
They are agriculturalists and subsist on plantains, cocoyam, yam, bananas, maize (corn), beans and palm oil, plus coffee and cocoa as cash crops. Everything is done here to the accompaniment of feasting and singing. Moghamo informants identified themselves by saying that they are recognised by the language they speak, their behaviour and the type of food they eat.
General Info
Recent linguistic research carried out on Moghamo by SIL shows that Moghamo is a separate language from Meta. It has a literacy rate of 50-75% in English. The project is at the initial stage. Therefore, members of the Translation Team are still in training. The community is being mobilised for Scriptures to be translated. The Batibo (Moghamo) council and the elites have been supporting the language committee. The committee has produced some basic didactic materials like: Alphabet book, diary lexicon, ortho-graphy statement and transitional manuals. They need funds to make these materials available for the people. The local administrative authority is very willing and ready to see the Moghamo language developed.
Expected Results
It is anticipated that in the short term, the community will be mobilised. Linguistic research will enable the translation of the Bible to begin. Through using translated Scriptures and multi-dimensional literature, both in-dividual lives and the community will be improved in every domain.

Les informateurs du Moghamo se sont identifiés en disant qu’ils se reconnaîssent par la langue qu'ils parlent, leur comportement et leurs habitudes alimentaires.
Information Générale
Le Moghamo est une langue distincte du Meta. Il a un taux d’alphabétisation entre 50 % et 75 % en anglais. Le projet se trouve toujours au stade initial. Par conséquent, les membres de l’Équipe de traduction du projet sont toujours en formation. La communauté est en train d’être mobilisée pour la traduction de la Bible. La commune de Batibo (Moghamo) et l’élite soutiennent le comité de la langue Moghamo.
Le comité de la langue Moghamo a produit quelques matériels didactiques de base tels que : L’abécédaire, le lexique, le précis d’orthographe et des manuels de transition. Ils ont besoin de fonds pour rendre ces documents disponibles au peuple. L’autorité administrative locale est très disposée et prête à voir la langue Moghamo développée.
Résultats escomptés
Il est prévu qu'à court terme la communauté sera mobilisée. Les recherches linguistiques permettront que la traduction de la Bible commence. Par le biais d’une utilisation régulière et effective des Écritures traduites et la littérature multi-dimensionnelle qui sera produite en Moghamo, la vie de la communauté sera améliorée dans tous les domaines.
